Happy 17th Birthday Megan

This weekend was Megan's birthday so she had some friends over to celebrate on Friday night.
She had to many to list all of their names.  This is just a few that were the first to show up.
She wanted funfetti cupcakes but I didn't have any candles so we had to use a votive on the top.  It seems to have gotten the job done.
 Megan and Olivia.
They started up the campfire after it got dark out.
Megan with Cole who is trying to make a serious face while there is a goofy face smiling bright in the background.  What a bunch of crazies!!!!
Megan tried to take a picture of everyone at the fire.
Megan and Hunter with another goofy face behind them.
They are all so cool.  The last friend finally left a little after 2:00 am.  It is a good thing it was Megan's birthday party or I would not have stayed up that late for them.  I am getting to old for that!!!!!
When Megan and Olivia finally got up on Saturday morning we got their pictures.  Today is the big day.  It is Megan's 17th Birthday!!!!!
She picked to go to the movie so we went and saw Pain and Gain.  She was so excited to buy her own ticket.  It is rated R and she got to get in without adult supervision. :)
After the movie it was off to Olive Garden for dinner.  We don't go there to often because we don't like to wait but we were early enough that it went by pretty quick.
Alex always makes the cutest faces.
We got our table and something to drink.
Megan got a ton of great presents.  She got this beautiful necklace, a macy's gift card, an engraved jewelry box, and lots of money to buy summer clothes.
Some of her cards that were made by Cameron, Rena and Maleah.
 Jim and Marilyn at dinner.
We went home for a bit to let our dinner settle a little and then later we went down to Elements for a frozen yogurt dessert.
I think that Megan had a great birthday weekend.  I know that we sure had a fun day.  It is amazing to me that she is 17 already.  I don't know how it has gone by so fast.  It has been so much fun to watch her grow and mature into such a beautiful young lady.
Happy Birthday Megan!!!!!

Happy 70th Birthday!!!!!

I was lucky enough to get to go to Carlsbad on my way to Las Vegas last weekend for my Dad's 70th Birthday.  I flew into San Diego on Thursday and got to spend the evening with Stefanie, Jeff and the kids and then Stefanie and I drove to Las Vegas on Friday afternoon to spend the weekend with Dad. We drove back to Stefanie's on Sunday night and I got to spend Monday there and flew home very late on Monday night.  I guess it was technically Tuesday morning by the time I made it home but it was sure a fun filled weekend.
Rena and Maleah were going to a Daddy/Daughter dance on Friday night so they both put on their beautiful dresses to show me.
Friday was neon day at school so everyone was dressed for the occasion.
Cameron was all ready for school.  He was just waiting for time to go out and play some basketball.
Stefanie is looking very busy at her desk.  I went back after school and picked her up and we headed to Vegas.  We had a few mishaps along the way but we eventually made it!!!!!
We met Dad, Bonnie, and Aimie at the Red Rock when we arrived.  We had a birthday drink and then played a few slot machines.
Dad had a baseball game first thing Saturday morning so we were up and moving early.  We had a lot to get done in a short amount of time.
He is all ready to play some ball.
Fred arrived from California during the game so the whole party had now made it.
We went back to the house after the game and had some birthday cake and Honey came over for a visit.
Stefanie and I gave him this beautiful shirt and hat.  The shirt says "70 years old and still playing with balls." I thought it was so funny and it has a basketball, baseball and golf ball on it.  All of his favorites.
We loaded up the car and headed out to eat and go to Old Town.  The other part of his present is a ride on the zip line.
Dad and Fred at Old Town.
We got Aimie and Bonnie to do the zipline with us.  I am not sure how excited they were about it but it sure was fun.
 We all survived!!!!!
I had to get in the picture I guess.  That is my head popping up.
Time for a drink and some outdoor entertainment.  We headed back toward home after we were done downtown and played some slot machines and roulette until the wee hours of the morning.
Sunday morning we went to our last buffet of the weekend.  It is Dad's favorite brunch with crab legs and lots of good food.  We had so much fun but the weekend went way to fast.  We headed back toward Stef's after brunch.
We got home to some kids eating smores by the fire.
I think they were all glad to see us. :)  On Monday I pretty much did nothing all day.  Stef and the kids went to school and then we went out to dinner and headed toward the airport.
The whole weekend went by so fast but I got a lot in for such a short amount of time and I am so glad that I got to go and see everyone and spend my Dad's birthday with him.  It was a perfect weekend!!!!!

Daffodil Parade

Alex was really excited to get to be in the parade this year and I was really unhappy that it was pouring rain.  It was so wet and cold.  We had several layers of clothes on and it was freezing.  There were still tons of people downtown to watch the parade though so it was a fun day.
Megan and Olivia were in charge of watching the cross walk.  You don't want anyone to jump out in front of those floats. :)
Mike was in charge of the kettle korn.  He had the most important job!!!!
Here comes Ballou.  They were #22.  Looking good so far.
There is barely a speck of Alex's head in this one.  I couldn't even find him so I just started taking pictures of anyone playing a clarinet.  Oops.
I got a few good ones of the back of him.
I finally found him.  He is so cute!!!!!
We couldn't see much of the rest of the parade over the top of all of the umbrellas.
Alex was a bit wet when he got done but he had a great time and didn't seem to mind at all.  It was fun to get to see him marching down the street even in the rain.  Hopefully next year it is a little bit nicer out.

Band Practice

Alex is in the band at Ballou and they get to walk in the Daffodil Parade this year.  They had a practice on Wednesday night down at Spark's Stadium for all of the schools so we went down to watch everyone.
All ready to go. This is their parade uniform.
Ballou got to go first.  They walked around the track playing their tunes!!!!!
 Almost done with their turn.
After all of the school walked around they played a couple of songs together.  It sounded really good.  There were a lot of kids out there playing.  Now they are all ready for the parade!!!!

Happy Easter

We had a fun Easter around our house.  We didn't really do anything but the sun was out and it was warm so that made everything better!!!!!
We colored Easter eggs.  I am not sure why Megan and Olivia decided to use bowls but I wasn't going to argue with them.
Alex's friend Cameron was here to help also.  Megan and Olivia colored half of the eggs and Alex and Cameron did the other half.
The bunny brought the kids baskets during the night.  They were pretty exciting this year, candy and Starbucks gift cards.
Megan was not nice about looking for the eggs when she got up.  Apparently she is to old and sophisticated to search for eggs that a bunny hides!!!!
Alex and Cameron were much happier about finding the eggs.
Mike made no attempt to search for anything.
Oh yes, Megan has one and Alex has an entire basket full.
She is searching high and low.
They are finally done.  It took Alex a while to find all of them.  Megan ended up with an impressive four eggs.
After we ran our errands for the day we came back home to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.  We mixed it up a little this year and had Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and rolls.  We laughed about it all day but it was really good!!!!
After we ate Megan and Alex got tired.  It was from all of that turkey I am sure.
We had a fun day. It's to bad that the sun can't be out like that everyday.
Happy Easter to Everyone!!!!!!
