Saturday night

It is Saturday night and Mike, Tony, Suzy and I are headed to Seattle for the night. Mike got a gift certificate for the Metropolitan Grill for Christmas last year and we hadn't used it yet so we decided it was about time. The gift certificate was just about enough to cover our drinks for the night but it was ok because we had a great time and they have great food.
We even got to dress up a bit more than normal!!!!!!!
Tony and Suzy. Tony didn't like his sweater but I thought it looked very nice.
The waiter took a picture of all of us. I felt like a tourist but it was still nice of him to offer.
This is a hot apple pie dessert that they make for you right at your table. It is suppose to serve 2 people but we all could have eaten it and still had plenty. We managed to finish it off though even after complaining about how big it was. It was sooooo good and it didn't seem right to leave any left over.
I just thought this was a cool tree outside the Space Needle.
Mike and Suzy walking down to check out the ships that are covered in lights.

We had such a fun night and I am still full this morning!!!!!

Bill and Sandy's Cabin

Megan and I got up at 3:00 this morning and went to the mall to check out the morning sales.
The lines were way to long everywhere that we went so we came back home a little after 6:00 and took a nap for a couple of hours and then went back to the mall for try #2. The lines were much better this time but still pretty darn long.
We decided after the second shopping trip that we should hop in the car and head up to Bill and Sandy's cabin to say hi. They spend the holiday weekend there with their family so we stopped by for a quick minute which turned into a few very fun hours!!!!!!
Megan and Alex outside. Alex thought he should throw that snow ball at Megan but I didn't think it was such a good idea.
We got a family photo outside the cabin. Bill was nice enough to take it for us and apparantely all of the Yahn family takes pictures the same way. I felt like my Mom or Peggy was on the other side of the lense. They aren't real quick at taking the pictures but they always turn out good!!!!!
Alex and Bill in the house..
Megan sitting at the table with us.
They have the nicest cabin and we had such a fun time visiting with them.

Happy Thanksgiving

I say all the time how sad I am that my kids will never understand what it is like to grow up with so much family around like I did. Some, if not all, of my favorite memories from growing up included my grandparents, my cousins, and my aunts and uncles. We have so many funny Thanksgiving and Christmas memories with so many people and it makes me sad that my kids will never have that. Unfortunately, over the years, my family has slowly but surely moved to other states so the holiday's have slowly but surely become very different than what I was used to. Needless to say, I wasn't to excited to be spending this Thanksgiving with just the 4 of us. I have to see these same 3 people everyday so really making them dinner today was no different than any other day. I decided to just do what we normally do as if we were having a party and then throwing in something new for fun. We had a great day!!!!!
First thing this morning I got up and put in the turkey and then headed to the gym. When I got home with my newspaper full of ads for tomorrow Megan and Alex had already started the gingerbread house.
We had a breakfast of champions, maple bars. I got through all my ad's, started dinner stuff, and actually managed to take a shower. :)
We watched the Thanksgiving day parade this morning and then a full day of Football!!!!!
The gingerbread house got worked on some more once the walls were dry. Alex had to hurry and finish it before Megan and Mike ate all of the candy that came with it!!!!!!
Alex, Mike and Megan just being goofy. They were being strange all day.
Time for our appetizers to watch some of the football games with. I was impressed with how good I did on not going overboard for just the 4 of us but no one else seemed to agree with me. They did all manage to eat it though.
Megan and Mike. They had all sorts of problems getting a decent picture so this was the best I could do.
Megan and I had just as many problems. We finally had to have Mike take one. Even with our monkey arms we still had squinty eyes.
We aren't full yet so it is time for dinner. I guess it was different than most days because we are actually eating at a table. Normally it's either the counter or the coffee table.
They were all so happy to have me taking their picture again. What a bunch of complainers!!!!
Alex got off his x-box long enough to eat and take this picture on our way out the door.
For our something different we went to the movie. It was so much fun and there aren't any people at the theatre on Thanksgiving. Megan and I went to Burlesque and there were 4 total people in the theatre. Mike and Alex went to Tangled, they had more people in their's but our movie was much better. :) Good news also, we had popcorn and fountain soda. We bought the large popcorn so we could get it re-filled and Megan and I dumped one bucket into paper bags and then Mike and Alex filled it back up to go to their movie. I wonder if you are actually suppose to do that?????
We made it home from the movie and it was dessert time. We had all sorts of yummy stuff and I can honestly say I am now full to the rim!!!!! I don't think I will eat anything else within the next hour. I can't guarantee the rest of the night though.
You can just call me Martha Stewart. That is Megan's delicious piece of pie that I cut and put in the microwave. It was alot of work. :)
We had a great day around here and although it was not a holiday that I am used to it was a lot of fun and very different. They always say change is good. Go with it!!!!!!!
We have so much to be thankful for and even though I didn't get to spend the day with my huge extended family and friends I am very thankful that they are all happy and healthy spread out across the United States. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!!!

It's been two hours..... :)

Well, it's been about two hours since my last post. We are just sitting around here waiting for the power to go out and watching the wind whip buy and the snow fall down.
I am told we are up to about 5 inches of snow. It seems to just keep coming!!!!!
Megan is putting together a puzzle that Peggy sent her. We already have the candles lit and we are ready for another long night. On the upside, Megan is so excited that the school just called to say there is no school tomorrow. She is doing the happy dance!!!!!!!
Alex has decided to venture back outside to play in the snow with Connor. The temperature is down to a brisk 22 degrees. Good thing he has lots of warm hunting clothes.
The crazy boy is going out. I sure hope we can find him in all of the camoflauge gear if he freezes and can't get back to the house.
The flag is blowing like crazy. I wonder how long this is going to last. I do like the snow and don't mind being stuck inside but I am pretty sure that I will be tired of it by morning. Good thing I don't mind driving in it. I will be able to venture out in the morning!!!!!

It's only November!!!!!!

What a strange week it has been around here. The weather guy said it was going to be a bad winter but really, who ever believes the weather man? I guess he was right this time.
Last Monday night we lost our power in a lovely wind storm.
It was really dark and really windy. It was fun to sit in the house and watch all of the tranformers down the road blowing up.
Good thing we have a gas fireplace and lots of candles.
It started snowing yesterday. They said it was going to continue today but I didn't believe them still. They announced last night that school would be late today because of the cold temperatures and the ice on the roads.
We got up this morning to a little bit more snow but not a huge amount. There was enough for Alex and Connor to sled off of the deck but that was about it.
Two hours later and the snow hasn't stopped. The boys had enough to build a snow bear, as they called it.
It is suppose to stop snowing tonight and get windy again. Hopefully we don't lose our power again. That won't make me to happy!!!!!!!

Megan's Choir

Megan is in choir this year and they have to go on tour (that's what they call it) on Tuesday so we had to go buy a special tuxedo shirt that she is required to have.
This is what she has to wear for their performances. I guess they also get a green vest but they aren't allowed to bring that home so that they don't end up forgetting it on show day.
You might think that the bow tie looks a bit large? I would agree, in fact, I asked her why it was so large and I was quickly told it was just Olivia's hair band that she put around her neck to see how the shirt would look. It's not actually the bow tie, good news I guess. The actual one is a more normal size. This bow tie also looks good on Olivia's head when it's not on Megan's neck.

Megan's Pictures

Megan is always taking the camera and getting random pictures of strange things. She has gotten really good at it and always gets a lot of cool pictures. She was so excited that Mike got home with the camera so she took it outside this afternoon and got a few quick ones before the rain started.
Oscar has been chained up all week while Mike has been gone. He wouldn't stay in the yard. I guess there isn't enough room back there for him. :)
Tree in the backyard. I just raked up the leaves on Thursday from it and the ground is covered again already.
Flag out front.
I think that Hershey wants a bisquit.
These are the leaves on the ground that I just raked up. They came back. Darn it!!!!!!
