Happy Thanksgiving

I say all the time how sad I am that my kids will never understand what it is like to grow up with so much family around like I did. Some, if not all, of my favorite memories from growing up included my grandparents, my cousins, and my aunts and uncles. We have so many funny Thanksgiving and Christmas memories with so many people and it makes me sad that my kids will never have that. Unfortunately, over the years, my family has slowly but surely moved to other states so the holiday's have slowly but surely become very different than what I was used to. Needless to say, I wasn't to excited to be spending this Thanksgiving with just the 4 of us. I have to see these same 3 people everyday so really making them dinner today was no different than any other day. I decided to just do what we normally do as if we were having a party and then throwing in something new for fun. We had a great day!!!!!
First thing this morning I got up and put in the turkey and then headed to the gym. When I got home with my newspaper full of ads for tomorrow Megan and Alex had already started the gingerbread house.
We had a breakfast of champions, maple bars. I got through all my ad's, started dinner stuff, and actually managed to take a shower. :)
We watched the Thanksgiving day parade this morning and then a full day of Football!!!!!
The gingerbread house got worked on some more once the walls were dry. Alex had to hurry and finish it before Megan and Mike ate all of the candy that came with it!!!!!!
Alex, Mike and Megan just being goofy. They were being strange all day.
Time for our appetizers to watch some of the football games with. I was impressed with how good I did on not going overboard for just the 4 of us but no one else seemed to agree with me. They did all manage to eat it though.
Megan and Mike. They had all sorts of problems getting a decent picture so this was the best I could do.
Megan and I had just as many problems. We finally had to have Mike take one. Even with our monkey arms we still had squinty eyes.
We aren't full yet so it is time for dinner. I guess it was different than most days because we are actually eating at a table. Normally it's either the counter or the coffee table.
They were all so happy to have me taking their picture again. What a bunch of complainers!!!!
Alex got off his x-box long enough to eat and take this picture on our way out the door.
For our something different we went to the movie. It was so much fun and there aren't any people at the theatre on Thanksgiving. Megan and I went to Burlesque and there were 4 total people in the theatre. Mike and Alex went to Tangled, they had more people in their's but our movie was much better. :) Good news also, we had popcorn and fountain soda. We bought the large popcorn so we could get it re-filled and Megan and I dumped one bucket into paper bags and then Mike and Alex filled it back up to go to their movie. I wonder if you are actually suppose to do that?????
We made it home from the movie and it was dessert time. We had all sorts of yummy stuff and I can honestly say I am now full to the rim!!!!! I don't think I will eat anything else within the next hour. I can't guarantee the rest of the night though.
You can just call me Martha Stewart. That is Megan's delicious piece of pie that I cut and put in the microwave. It was alot of work. :)
We had a great day around here and although it was not a holiday that I am used to it was a lot of fun and very different. They always say change is good. Go with it!!!!!!!
We have so much to be thankful for and even though I didn't get to spend the day with my huge extended family and friends I am very thankful that they are all happy and healthy spread out across the United States. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!!!
