On the road to Arizona.......

The truck is completely loaded and we are ready to pull out of the driveway. We left at 12:15 on Saturday afternoon and we arrived at Heidi's brother's house in Arizona at 4:15 Sunday afternoon. A mere 28 hour drive. We stopped for gas 5 times, McDonald's soda 3 times, 2 Wal Marts and a couple of rest areas. Other than that we took turns taking a 30 minute nap each and cracking up at the funny things we do that no one else thinks are funny.
We are completely loaded and ready to head out.
Here we go. Climb on in!!!!!!
We are still smiling. Just give us time, our buns are about to be in pain!!!!!!
That sign does say, " Welcome to Oregon!!!!!!"
The good news was before we knew it we were reading "Welcome to California", the bad news, I think California never ends. We were driving forever!!!!!
Heidi drove the first 6 hours or so and after we got gas in Oregon, at a truck stop that made us look like very dumb blondes, It was my turn to cruise the open highway!!!! :)
These beautiful golden arches are like little pieces of Heaven. They have the very best fountain sodas in the world and right now they are only $1.00. Life just doesn't get any better.....
Before you knew it the sun was coming up on Sunday morning. Heidi got in a power packed nap of about 30 minutes or so, we stopped for a bathroom break and to switch drivers at about 5:30 a.m. and then I got in a wonderfully refreshing 30 minute nap also. There is nothing like trying to fall asleep in a truck that sounds like a semi and feels like you are sitting on a piece of plywood.
We finally found some sunshine so we had to make a pit stop at a Wal Mart so that we could change our clothes and brush our teeth. We were feeling a little sticky by now and I am pretty sure we had fur on our teeth.
This is a sticker on the dash inside the truck. We laughed about it the entire trip and when it says low fuel alarm, add fuel now it isn't joking. That thing just dings non stop until you put gas in it. It was really annoying!!!!
Finally, We have arrived in Arizona. What a happy moment. I really didn't think we would ever make it out of California much less finally get to Arizona. It took a long time but it was worth it.
That sign does say Phoenix. We have arrived!!!!!! It is Monday morning and we are getting ready to begin our unloading. It took 3 days to fill it and we have one day to empty it.
This is just a couple hours into it and we have just made a complete mess. Luckily the only other people there unloading for the day were done already. It took them about 3 hours to unload their entire U-Haul and it took Heidi and I about 9 hours to do ours. I guess we should have hired some of those guys on the side of the road to help us to.
This is the finished product of the storage unit. The boxspring is literally floating up above everything. It is balanced on two corners and hopefully will stay where it's at. We got everything in though and the door closed so we felt we were good to go. :)
Don't we look hot????? This is 9 hours of 110 degree weather with a climate controlled storage unit. By the way, climate controlled in Arizona means that your storage unit doesn't get above 90 degrees. Wow does that feel cool!!!!!
You are seeing correctly, that is one empty Penske truck. We were finally done and ready for some stiff drinks.
We went and met Kim for dinner after we got home and got a shower. We were really late meeting her because, as usual, we thought we could finish our work much faster than we really could. We had a great time at dinner and then we got to go see her condo. It was a fun and quick night.
Tuesday was errand day. We started the day off by going to see Heidi's brother, Tim, at his Veterinary Clinic.
Second, we made a stop by Jacob's new school. It has a great playground and is in a very nice area. His cousins also go to the school so he will know some kids on the first day.
Next it was off to get Heidi's new driver's license. This was a depressing but funny part of the day. They really did punch her Washington license so I guess she wasn't joking about moving. On the up side, they took a great picture for her new license and it doesn't expire for something like 43 years!!!!
We headed back to Tim and Tanya's house for the night and got to eat dinner with them and watch some tv before we had to get up early Wednesday morning and head for the airport.
Tim and Tanya have a really nice house and they were so much fun to stay with. I had a great time with all of them.
Now it's time to head to San Diego in the morning to see Megan and Alex at Stefanie's!!!!!
